Please find as follows a video and a step by step written tutorial on how to change a rim cylinder which is commonly found on wooden doors.
You will need: Posidrive screwdriver Set of pliers
Step 1 :Remove the fixing screws at the side OR back of the lock, and remove it from nightlatch from the door.
Step 2 :Remove the lock case from the fixing bracket on the door to reveal the cylinder tail and the fixing screws for the rim cylinder
Step 3 :Remove the 2 fixing screws that are holding the rim cylinder in place.
Step 4 :Remove the rim cylinder
Step 5 : With the new cylinder you may need to cut the tail down to the same size as the old cylinder, this is done by using a pair of pliers or grips. After cutting the tail to length, simply replace it into the door, then replace the 2 fixing screws at the back, and finally the night latch.
